Armed Angels

Angels and Swords...The first time it appears in scripture is right at the beginning, in the Garden of Eden:

So he (God) drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life. Genesis 3:24

Then in Numbers Chapter 22 we find this recorded:

And the ass saw the angel of the LORD standing in the way, and his sword drawn in his hand: and the ass turned aside out of the way, and went into the field: and Balaam smote the ass, to turn her into the way. [v. 23]

There are many, many more references to angels armed with swords in scripture we could cite, but these two will suffice for sufficient examples.
